Yes, Apple has a dedicated team of their best iOS engineers, who go into a secret conference room at Apple Park everyday, just to figure out new ways to mess with Ford/Lincoln Sync users šŸ˜€

I’m kidding, but the mental image is funny!
Apple playing around with CarPlay is like giving Metamucil to someone with IBS, with a big gulp sized prune juice.

It’s also full employment protection for the CarPlay group. If they leave well enough alone, they won’t have jobs. Hence CrapPlay.

This is the correct answer. It took me a long time to diagnose this and finally figured out that, if any ā€œmediaā€ was trying to play on the phone (say a safari page had a video on it, or you were watching YouTube), CarPlay would keep trying to take over (about every 5 seconds), until you closed the offending app on the phone.
This also happens with Bluetooth headphones- people will be listening to stuff on their AirPods or whatever then, when the car comes into range, the connection is seamlessly transferred to the car. Took me a while to figure out why I was having problems with phone calls when my car was at the car wash. Apple has addressed the headphones issue with an iOS setting but I don’t know if it would work for this situation.
It was the demonic phone. Something hardware-wise failed, and it was broadcasting Bluetooth non-stop despite killing all apps, factory reset, etc. Charlie Sheen's level of instability. Swapped it out for a new one and audible peace has returned.

I'm blaming neutrinos for the hardware problems. Nobody can prove me wrong, so that's what I'm going with.
