2021 Mustang Mach E Premium, AWD

So I brought my car to my local dealer (All American Ford, Paramus, NJ) today to address the unexpected door lock recall. I get a call that they are unable to fix the recall because the DLC Connector Harness/OBD Port is faulty. And I'll need to pay $1,200 to replace/repair it. Of course, they are saying it is not under warranty.
I get that the 3 year / 30,000 mile warranty is expired. However, the car has been no place else except for that dealership for service. I fail to see how that specific part would be faulty or damaged except for (a) an original manufacturing issue or (b) the dealer's service tech damaged it last time it was there.
The last time it was there for repairs was to fix the High Voltage Connector that seems to be a common issue among the original Job 1 cars.
They advised that I can call Ford and request that they approve a partial or full warranty override. I told them to give me my car back for now while I figure out next steps.
Anyone experienced anything like this? Any advice on how to handle it?
