Hello friends, I just picked up my MME and can only charge at public stations.

A silly questions is that do I need to leave my car on or off for it to charge? Looks like when I shut off the car, charging also stops or won't initiate (please correct me if I'm wrong). I plan to leave my car charging at a ChargePoint L2 station when I'm at work, so I'm a little concerned that if I have to leave car always when I'm not in it. Do I have to turn off the 30-min timer as well?

Another thing - I've tried a few EA fast charging at two different locations, only one plug worked (for only about 10 minutes before stopped). I've enabled Plug & Charge, but every time it shows connecting to vehicle and FordPass warns me charging failure.

Is EA that unreliable or is it a FordPass issue?

You do not need to leave the car on to charge. The first time you plug into the CP at work you can set that up as a charging location in FordPass. Once that is done you can set a max charging percentage and schedule times to charge. You should also setup departure times so your car can precondition while plugged in before you head for home.
There is a sticky post on here entitled 7 steps to setup plug and charge. Refer to that to get going on DCFC. You'll also need to activate your free 250 kWh on ford.com.

+1

We plug in with the car running during trips. It appears to turn off when the session is over, leaving it in accessory mode. On the return !eg of this trip, I will put it in accessory mode right away to preserve the trip info. Otherwise, it adds 30 minutes and no mileage.

Thanks for the info! I will try the charging schedule setting you mentioned! Just for clarification, do you mean I can turn off the car, get out of the car, plug it in, and lock the car (with walk away lock)? Or do I need to leave the car on (or accessory mode), plug in, and then turn off and leave? I guess I can probably find it out soon, but still greatly appreciated for any more instructions.

I had followed the instruction to enable P&C, but some how EA stations never worked for me. Only worked once before I enabled P&C. Still having 250kWh balance remaining haha...I hope that's just bad luck.

I have only charged at home, but I see no reason that L2 charging at work would be any different. I park, turn off the car, get out and close the door, then plug in. The car locks with walk away when I go in the house.

Thanks and totally agree with you.
