Florida turnpike does not support EV drivers !!! No non Tesla chargers at the north most service center, and chargers not working at the Duke Energy chargers at the following 2 service centers. That is 150 miles !!!!
The Canoe Creek is some fudge up by Duke. Those chargers have been broken for a while. FPL warned uses about maintenance on the Fort Drum location this week/month. Turkey Lake in Orlando is ran by Duke where the Mach-E or Rivian got fried.

I’m at Disney way too often myself but I live 90 mins away
Ever use the Charepoint chargers at Disney Springs? They decently reliable for being Disney property? I'm more of a Universal guy myself and we fly down there every month or two for a weekend trip, but planning to move to the Lake Nona area. (If I can finally find.a fully remote job or one who will relocate. lol)I know if we used Valet at Universal they can plug it into their charger but it's just a j1772 @ 6.4kw/h.

2 years into EV ownership, I thought I would see a meaningful increase in chargers... If that is happening, I don't notice it.

I do see more EVs, but I don't see many new chargers.
For non Tesla… yeah it’s almost been smaller utilities or dealerships that have built new locations here in Florida. It’s pretty sad. I still avoid Ocala because it’s a desert and my 220 mile round trip to Tampa on Easter Sunday was a pain because the EVGo station in Brandon would not initiate a charge on the Mach-E. More EVs on the road but no discernible improvement in number of available chargers.

For Tesla… they’ve built 8 new SC locations in Orlando area in 1.5 years. It’s insane. Plus large installations at Buc-ee’s just north of here. Ditched my last Tesla 6 months ago so they are no use to me.

I agree that from Miami to Orlando, FL turnpike is very good with those FPL chargers. My issue is that from Miami to Key west there is nothing, so I am not sure I can make that trip without running out of juice

They work but that parking lot is insanely busy and most chargers are occupied but turnover is quick and you should be able to charge. There are two new DC charging locations being built in the outlet mall areas.

Good to hear the turn over is good. My concern would be if most people plug in and leave it while they go to the park for 2-3 hours ect. I mean we would plug it in and walk springs while waiting but just to kill time.

Idle fees are high there so you won’t see folks connected for hours. They are 62.5kW and consistently push 58+.

I haven't used the new DCFC stations, the reviews on Plugshare seem to be OK, still some people just sitting there not charging apparently. They aren't super fast but that makes sense for the shopping are, you don't wanna be done charging too fast while you're shopping and then still have to pay the insane idle fees they added onto it.

Yeah the Universal hotels all have their chargers behind valet, I stayed at Hard Rock last summer and it was nice, but I made sure I was the one to plug it in, it was before I got the "fix" for the contractor issue so I was a little nervous. All the Disney Parks have the slow Chargepoint chargers, but good luck getting one if you don't arrive when the parking lot opens. People plug in and leave their cars there till close. There's only 3 or 4 spots per park, it's so stupid.

Plugshare I saw complaints of a Tesla that just parks there without plugging in.

There's new EA station going in St. Petersburg at Tyrone Mall, all the chargers are in they just haven't turned them on yet, it's definitely gonna help out that area with people traveling.

That is the big problem and why I do not think we will be anywhere near 50% new EV sales even by 2030. There just is not any business sense to install the very expensive 100KW+ DCFC and no motivation to keep quickly servicing the existing DCFCs.

I guess the $7.5B investment, over 5 years (i.e. by end of 2028) isn't investment in DC chargers? o_O

Hey, I'm with you, 100%. After 2 years I was expecting more, too. Here, some new charging stations were not well planned. Example - our local library has six Level 2's which I have never seen used. If drivers can charge at home for half the cost, why charge there?
You're clearly not understanding the purpose of local level 2 chargers. Libraries, grocery stores, hotels.... What's their purpose in putting in a charger? To get you to a) use their location over another location (grocery store, hotel), b) to get you to LINGER, and c) to further EV adoption.

Specifically, since you state your town in your bio, I looked up the libraries and found chargers at the Sollers Point Multi-Purpose Center. If that's the location you're talking about, which has a library, a gym with seating for 300, a 300 seat auditorium, a museum, and more, it's designed for the community and run by Baltimore County. The project was LEED Gold certified. Putting chargers there makes total sense in the perspective of pushing EV adoption. There are four level 2 chargers (7.2kW), 2 CHAdeMO 50kw chargers, and 2 50kW CCS chargers. Looks to be the only location for folks taking 695. Seems ideal. https://www.plugshare.com/location/303653 Looks like that location is a hub of all sorts of activity.

Of course, as a community member, you have the ability to speak with your elected representatives to either push for chargers where you want them, or to push against chargers being put in places you think don't make sense. I suspect this project was begun (planning) 4 or more years ago.
