Along with my Escape PHEV, which worries me because it has gasoline in it.

I am trying to determine where to position my charger ahead of my 2025 order arriving, and was planning to position it towards the front of my garage so I can keep the Mach E outside, as I am concerned about the possible flammability of the car ;-) But then I started to wonder, perhaps that is so... 2021? What is the consensus here? Do folks park their Mach E in the garage?
I mounted a 16a 240v charger on a 20a circuit next to the garage door. I can either charge outside by running the charging cord under the garage door or charge inside as the charging cable is long enough to reach the charging port when the MME is driven straight in.

My EVSE is installed on the pillar between my doors so I can reach both garage spots and both driveway spots. 99% of the time, I'm charging in the garage.

There is very little risk of fire. While not nil, it is far less than ICE fires. If you keep gasoline and other flammables in your garage to run your lawn mower, snow blower etc, this is a far greater risk than an EV.

All my cars are garage kept. I even had a 2019 Bolt, and there was a huge scare to not park them in the garage due to potential fires. In addition Chevy even warned not to park them near your home. It was kept in my garage for 5 years. I left it out for maybe 1 or 2 nights when the fire warnings were released, but then put it back in my garage. Between my husband and I we have had a total of 7 EVs all parked and charged in our garage.

Well, the OP and several others have mentioned that there is some probability of a Mach-e catching fire; which is because a Mach-e has NCM batteries. But statistics has another side: real life data. is anybody aware of a Mach-e who's battery has actually caught fire. I've been looking and I have not found any case of a battery fire in a Mach-e. I'd be delighted to hear of any. Tesla is a different matter.

It may indicate that Ford has done a good job on protecting the battery. And I've heard that Ford is changing to a LiFePO4, which is less susceptible to fire, but a lower specific energy.. Can anybody verify this? I have a LFePO4 battery in my boat and I certainly don't want a fire on the water.

Anyway I accept the (low) fire risk and charge the car at 32 amps with a Grizzley charger. So far so good

I park in the garage and have done so since day 1. No concerns and my 14-50 50 amp outlet is about three feet from the driver's side front bumper.

I park and charge in my garage. There really is only one down side, in the very hottest days of the summer. If your car has to run the AC heavily to keep the battery cool during charging, the garage can get quite hot, which makes the car AC work even harder. My solution is to charge in the wee hours. (Keeping the garage door open all night isn't a good idea for me, unless I want the garage filled with things better suited to the Louisiana marsh.)

In the fullness of time, I imagine installing a small heat exchanger that draws hot air from around the car and dumps the heat outside. In the distant sci-fi-efficient future maybe this will be standard in garages for EVs.

We park and charge in the garage. We had our charger installed by an electrician who did everything to code. We sleep well at night

I park and charge in my garage. No issues and this is my 2nd Mach E. 2021 + 2024

Do you have any (verifiable) examples of an EV catching fire in a garage when charging?

Absolutely parked in the garage.
Charger installed by professional with electrical permit to boot.
In my state, we have to have a licensed electrician install the level 2 chargers to code and have it inspected. I don't have any problems charging my Mach e in the garage. My last car was a Chevy Volt and I charged it in the garage for ten years. No problems.

Park in the garage, and have with both MachE's over 50 months using the Ford Charger that came with the vehicle. My parents garage exploded last winter in Michigan and it was propane caused but yeah, a lot of things are potential fire hazards. Driving is statically more deadly per hour than parked vehicles per hour. Gas stove as well so should probably install a.Fire suppression system. Darn, another thing to worry over...........;)

Got my 2024 Premium 4-ER July of 2024 and have always parked it in the garage, usually plugged in (using Ford ‘portable’ 220v charger) to assure I wake up to 90% range every day. No problems and no concerns. My understanding is that all those early battery fires were traceable to manufacturing defects, which are virtually non-existant In EVs 2020 or newer.

I park and charge my ‘24 premium in the garage (FCSP). Had them mount the unit toward the front of the garage though so if need to charge outside it will reach. No issues so far!
