This may be far fetched but I saw something today. My car was charging earlier at 3kw on a level2 50amp circuit- Ford Mobile Charger. Ambient temperature was mid 50s. (It normally charges at 6kW but for some unknown reason, it dropped to 3kW yesterday.). This am, I got the usual “Cabin Ready” message. I was heading out and noticed the charger was no longer Orange like it was last night. And the car was charging at 7kW! (I did look at the charge rate before it started the Cabin preconditioning and it was 3kW.)

Specific answer to your question: Does cabin conditioning reset charging rate?
Answer: No. Also, most of the time cabin conditioning occurs at the end or after charging so, conditioning should not be a factor. Also, the battery is also preconditioned if the battery temperature is not within an optimal range. But again, this would not affect charging.

Also, should not be due to a software bug.

I agree with Mach Lee that the charging rate is decreased when the mobile charger is too hot. Based on my experience only a diagnostic test can determine if any components are deteriorating, so should be replaced. Based on experiences presented on this blog site - could either be the mobile charger plug or the mobile charger itself. Root cause could be high ambient temperature not allowing the mobile charger to operate w/in an optimal temperature range, or another factor heating the mobile charger.

Hope this helps.
