2025 vs. 2021 wireless charging rate

Had a 2021 premium that my wife used daily, and had good luck using the wireless charging. That car had to go back at end of lease. Just bought a new 2025 Premium (extended range, awd) and she went on her first trip tonight. The wireless charging pad could not “keep up”, and her phone almost died on a two hour trip. The battery charging indicator is on, on the screen. She switched to factory nav, so as to not use Waze (and she loves Waze). She is not happy!

Did they change the charge rate?

I haven't had experience with models other than the 2024 I recently bought, but my wireless charging is also slow and cannot keep up. After 30 minutes or so, I'll see a notification on my display that says I should stop changing the phone because it's hot enough to cause thermal throttling. The real fix, apparently, is to buy the TWraps wireless charging pad. It gets placed over the existing wireless charging pad and offers better Magsafe / Qi charging. I don't know if it fits the 2025, specifically.

Thank you for the reply. I added a short USBC cord to the car this morning, ut I think the correct answer is the TWraps plate. I am going to reach out to see if it fits the '25

It does fit and works great in my 2025. This is the one I ordered. I also noticed my stock wireless charger was barely charging my phone, but with the TWRAPS dual charger, my phone charges no problem while powering Apple Carplay. The magsafe is also excellent because it always aligns correctly and wont slide around. Definitely recommend this product!
