Does opening the frunk always happen in 3 steps? Every time I try popping it (from phone and from car) I hear three distinct popping/releasing sounds. Not sure if that’s how it’s supposed to be.

Yes the motor has to pull two strokes to open it, the same as if you did it manually with the pull lever.

Yep, two pulls and one extra in case the latch mechanism was still resetting from the primary to the secondary catch when the second pulse went off. ??

You definitely made the right choice in coming here instead of doing that.
Oh definitely. The combined knowledge of this forum > Dealer knowledge.

Yes. Three steps for me too.
Open driver's door, pull handle once, pull handle a second time.
I can push the button on the Sync screen as much as I like but nothing happens except I get a chime.

I just tried this today, opening from the phone. Three pops lol. But from the latch in the car it's only two pops as depicted on the icon.

My thing is, why they made it so that you have to put some muscle and slam the hood close. The first thing the dealer wanted to show me. And he said most people don't know that and they try to close it with not enough force and end up putting dents on the hood trying to press it close.

Shout out to Walnut Creek Ford! Thank you!
