I mostly used PAAK, but also I have a work client that prohibits cell phones in their facilities; when doing so, I try to remember to bring a FOB, but about 1/2 the time I forget to do so. When leaving my cell in the car as PAAK, the doors have never auto-locked, but did so recently at a most inconvenient time, leaving me with a long walk in the rain to find a phone to ask my wife to unlock the car with the Ford Pass app. Aside from the teachable moment to memorize the door lock code - (Why bother, its saved on my phone :p) , has anyone experienced the doors locking when leaving the phone in the car?

Bluetooth is not really meant for determining relative location of a device. As such, the car can’t really tell where the phone is, just that it’s somewhere close enough to the car or not judging by the relative Bluetooth signal strength.

So once it detects a weakening or lost BT signal after you have exited and closed the door, it thinks the phone key has gone far enough away and can trigger the lock regardless of where the phone actually is.

Can't answer your question but I can tell you that I bought a Faraday Pouch for my Fob and keep it in the car for exactly those situations.
