I got into the car the other day without my keyfob and ONLY my phone. I got the message that the key was not detected. I pushed OK but the passcode screen never appeared. I figured it was just a fluke. But it happened again yesterday. What happened to the screen with the passcode? It was always there before - although really slow to come on. But now - nothing.
Thanks

Never get in your car without the FOB. Using phone as a key is untrustworthy.
Updates to the phone and updates from Ford are not coordinated.
One update by either could strand you.
There are numerous posts here by individuals that will back this statement up.

Art, I disagree. I have used PAAK since 2021 without any problems. First with my 2021 MME and now with my 2023 MME GTPE. When you dig into most all of the reported issues the root causes have been user setup/ configuration.

I used PaaK exclusively for 3 years. One time, it took several minutes and attempts for the passcode screen to show up. I tested the next day without my phone, and it worked fine. I switched to the fob about 6 months ago and have found the overall experience to be significantly better. The pillar lock icons work consistently, doors open on the first try, no fiddling with the app to clear key not detected errors, welcome lights work every time. And the handful of times I forgot my fob, PaaK still works.

And, passing along the tip (got on this forum) for the missing passcode or keyboard - depress the brake pedal when trying to use the backup code. That assumes of course you set up the PaaK and emergency backup code already. Getting stranded is a good reminder, not that I'd know ?

A large portion of the problems with PaaK have been found to simply be connectivity issues. ??

Personally, my experience is similar to yours. My original issue with PaaK was due to an issue with the code on Ford’s validation servers. The code didn’t recognize my email address as valid. After Ford fixed that, I had only one key not found issue with my 2021. Zero PaaK problems since getting the 2024. ??

Oh, there was one more issue that really wasn’t a PaaK issue. When I was having those server-side issues and trying to troubleshoot with Ford’s support personnel, one of the techs I spoke with insisted that I delete my PaaK even though I had repeatedly told him that I was not at home and did not have a physical key. He got really grouchy and told me to “just do it” so I did. When he told me to set up a new PaaK I asked him how, since I was many miles from a key. He hung up on me and I ended up paying for a pair of $60 ride share rides so that I could get one of my keys. Ford never reimbursed me for that. ??

You may disagree, but every thing I said is true. There is no coordination between the phone updates and Ford updates. Those people stranded without a FOB might be surprised that it was due to setup/configuration when they had no troubles until they were stranded.

I have a love hate relationship with PAAK, but have used it exclusively, when I'm in town, for over 2 years. It's funny sometimes when it says key not detected, but allows me to drive anyway. I've started keeping one fob in an RF shielded bag in my console vault so, if the PAAK fails completely, I have the fob available and don't have to use the passcode.

Funny story. My 3 year old granddaughter likes to look at family photos and videos on my iPhone. My iPhone plays the audio through my hearing aids. She gets irritated when she can't hear the audio from the videos. She hands me the iPhone and says, "Grandpa, turn off Bluetooth ". The other day I forgot to turn it back on and wasn't able to get into the car or start it until I remembered that it was off.
