Correct it gives the warning but was able to set mine up ok, and does seem to be unlocking / locking well on approaching / leaving the vehicle.

Of course it's just day 1 so we'll see.

I noticed that the wireless charging pad doesn’t seem great for the 15 pro. Maybe the cameras are too big to lay flat properly?
It never worked on my previous iPhone 13 pro, other than as a heater. Not great on my wife's 12 mini for that matter, but that did get a little charge. I had hopes that it would work better on the 15 Pro. Oh, well, not terribly dependent on this.

Yesterday, unrelated to getting a new phone, I added my old phone back as PaaK. I got a chuckle out of this (red box added by me):

It's a brand new phone, so Ford hasn't had time to calibrate the PAAK Bluetooth radio parameters on it yet. This means you may experience degraded performance until Ford engineers are able to perform a calibration on an iPhone 15 and incorporate it into the next software update (which may take ~6 months).
Accessory makers get the new iPhone months before everyone else so they can make new cases, etc. I’m sure Ford and other automakers could articulate a more urgent case to Apple if they reached out.
