Yes, I'm a newbie, but no one can tell me what "double locking" the doors gives me. The sales guy says it provides an enhanced level of security, but I'm skeptical. I know I get it by pushing the lock symbol on the door twice, but that's it. Anyone?

I don't think it does anything on the MME. On my wife's VW, pressing it a 2nd time makes the horn honk so you know it is locked so you don't have to have the setting on that makes it honk on the first press. Wish the MME did this.

For my Mercedes, double clicking disabled the key proximity sensor, so I could no longer unlock or lock the door from the cars handle, I'd have to press unlock on the key fob.

Well, page 81 of the Owner's Manual states that either pressing the lock symbol on the door or the Fob twice "double locks" the door, but doesn't go on to describe exactly what that provides. I'm having a video chat w/ a Ford guy in half and hour, will ask, and report.

Double locking is a theft protection feature that prevents someone from opening the doors from the inside. It will only operate if all of the doors are fully closed.

So if someone busts a window, they can't hit unlock from inside the car.

Don't use if children or pets are left in the car.

That is from a Ford service manual. It's typically only been in UK spec Ford's for whatever reason. I wonder if it's actually in the MME or was just a misprint.

Don't be mean. Just roll down a window and see if you can unlock the car by reaching in like a thief would be doing. I think I tried that and it only sets off the alarm.

You mean pressing it the second time on the fob, right? Mine (21 Job 1 Premium) does! Maybe there's an in-vehicle setting for this?
Really?!? I know there is a setting for "honk on key lock" or something like that. Maybe that is for the 2nd press and not the 1st? I usually disable that setting the second I get the car, so I didn't even test it!

Finally talked my wife into getting in and letting me lock the doors (twice). Nothing new: she was able to open the door from inside normally. No alarm...nothing. So maybe it's only pertinent to European builds. Another "omission" in the OM. Thanks, all for your input!
