Ok, I looked through here and saw some references to this, but nothing really succinctly spells it out. What is the E-Heater? What does it do/not do? And most importantly, why is it On while the A/C is on? Thanks!

It’s the resistive heater. If you turn if off the only heat you’ll get is what can be scavenged from the electric drivetrain, which isn’t much.

It's the same thing as the A/C button, but for heat.

The A/C button inhibits the HV A/C compressor.
The E-Heat button inhibits the HV PTC heater.

Turn A/C off, no A/C. Turn A/C on, it allows the car to decide to turn on the A/C.
Turn E-Heat off, no heater. Turn E-heat on, it allows the car to decide to turn on the heater.

Mix and match as you see fit, or leave it in auto.

Some reports suggest disabling the E-heater when DC Fast Charging to improve the charging speed, thereby reducing the charging time.

I would suggest doing so will only help when the E-heater would actually be called on to heat the cabin. When it is available but not active should not affect charging.

Correct. If the battery is cold, the resistive heater may be used to warm it up. A warm battery charges faster. If you're sitting in the car with the E-Heat warming the cabin while doing this, less heat is available to go to the battery.
