On the plus side for the #NoTaBlAzEr EV, it’s pacing the Daytona 500 this weekend. It must have enough top speed to run minimum lap times for pacing on the high banks. Our MMEs can’t do that and can only pace on some smaller or tighter tracks. ?‍♂?

I would guess there is very little in that car that you will find in the retail model.

According to the press releases, the only non-stock stuff on it is the decal package. ?‍♂?

When I did the tour of the track (many, many years ago), they told us the cars had to sustain either 80 MPH or 90 MPH so they didn’t fall off the banks.
I guess that means no BlueCruise on the speedway ???

Pretty normal when automakers use a production model for a pace car. The car will then be on display and toured around after the race. They want it to be stock, they want their customers to know they can buy the same car that paced at Daytona. It's worked that way for the Corvette many times... GM isn't new to this. And the Blazer SS is one of the quickest or highest performing cars they've had do this. I'd say it's a marketing win for EVs in general.

In the early 90s I got to ride around the Daytona Speedway in a pace car (Pontiac Grand Prix).

First lap we did at 30 mph, 2nd at 100 and he took his hands off the wheel and it drove itself around the turn.

At 30 it felt like it would slide down the track, but no, it doesn’t.
