When I worked at Ford the service advisors all wore clip on ties. The service manager said this was for safety in case they got caught in a fan belt. The service advisors all said "It's so the customers can't strangle us with them". True story.
Same reason FBI agents do too. :)

Hi, wondering have you dealt with this smell? I have similar occurrence with my MachE , but the smell appeared during charging in my garage. It was so intensive that even my wife called me to come back to home asap and take the car to the dealer... The wire installation in my house is OK, also the charger is working well (mobile Charger for BMW). The smell haven't disappeared even when the car was standjng forcthe days at the dealership.

Fortunately mine was a one off event. When I took it into the dealer they insisted they could find nothing wrong. Subsequently, I did not notice any recurrent electrical issues. Still not sure what it was, but it was a very real event. Perhaps some critter got into my electrical system, just not sure. The smell in my car went away after about 24 hours.

Today I brought the car back From the dealer (left it 2nd time) but they haven't offically confirmed that the reason of the smell was identified (they have change the cabin filter now, previously the door lock servo-motor etc) ... And the smell still is noticeable (maybe slightly diiferent, not so intensive and more 'metalic' than plastical). Still wondering what kind of approach should i take now towards them... it has been over the month dince the first 'smell' occurred. It makes me anxious...

OK. Thx for feedback. So it seems that I will have to set-up a new thread with my case...
