Hi Mustang Mach-E owners.
In our recent community surveys, many of you asked for more technical deep dives and a look behind the curtain at how our engineering teams do things. You wanted the nerdy stuff, and I am here to deliver.
Today I want to talk about suspension. A common misconception is that a vehicle lineup shares a single universal tune. That is definitely not the case here. There are four distinct suspension personalities across the 2026 Mustang Mach-E lineup, and each one is mapped to do something very specific.
The Select and Premium Setup
This is our passive suspension architecture. It uses specifically calibrated springs and dampers designed for a dual-purpose ride profile. The engineering goal here was balancing everyday passenger comfort with the lively handling you expect from a vehicle wearing the Mustang badge.
To validate this, the team took these vehicles to the Ford proving grounds for durability testing to simulate years of driving on challenging roads. It is a brutal process, but it ensures the hardware holds up to real-world abuse.
The GT and MagneRide Magic
Mustang Mach-E GT with passive suspension is calibrated to create a connected and responsive feel with sharp road holding and confident cornering, delivering both performance and everyday comfort.
Adding MagneRide through the Performance and Handling Package elevates that experience with an additional tier of dynamic capability for drivers who value the most engaging driving experience.
This is where things get really fun. The dampers use a magnetically responsive fluid. The system monitors body and wheel motion up to 1,000 times per second and adjusts each corner independently in milliseconds. Because it reacts so fast, the damper behavior can change from soft to firm nearly instantly based on road conditions and your driving inputs.
The Rally Hardware
The Rally features real hardware changes including extra suspension travel, uniquely tuned springs, specific anti-roll bars, 19-inch wheels, Michelin CrossClimate2 tires, and underbody shielding.
The engineers tuned this model specifically to handle both canyon carving and maintained dirt roads. If you engage RallySport drive mode, the system allows for added yaw (yes, larger slides), provides a linear throttle response, dials in more aggressive MagneRide damping, and backs off the stability controls.
To prove it could handle the punishment, the team put the Rally through a specific durability test covering 500 combined miles. This simulated 10 years of monthly rallycross racing across varying temperatures, slippery mud, and dry dirt surfaces.
