I’m gonna trust that Ford has a better read on consumer demand and their strategic plan to remain profitable than EV enthusiasts.

Nobody is making an EV truck that can tow without massive range loss. And nobody will. Not with current battery tech. An EV F-150 was a fool’s errand. Not just my opinion - the market’s opinion.

I also don’t think the politics of this are gonna change markedly even after the Dems regain control. Polling indicates that “climate change” barely registers as a concern anymore - and this trend seems to be bearing out globally - and even some Dems seem embarrassed how much of a boondoggle things like the “Green New Deal” and CAFE standards were.

I think Ford had a decent read on the prevailing winds… until the tech significantly improves. I’m glad Ford is adapting.
Garbage. Source?

Here's one source to refute your ridiculous statement. 72% believe global warming is happening. 59% say caused by people.

People are focused on immediate impact to them. Self-gratification. Climate change seems like a person cannot do anything on their own.

I have a neighbor who says they care about environment. Every week I see boxes in trash, not flattened and in recycling bin. They put out 2 large rolling bins of trash weekly. We do one 50 gallon trash bag every 6 to 8 weeks.

Me. Me. Me. Surrounding by selfish pigs.

Note the Yale survey ranks #1 government corruption.

The whole EV experience just isn't ideal right now. It's only good when you have a Level 2 charger at your house and >99% of your trips are within a 100-mile radius of home.

I recently drove from the northwest suburbs of Chicago to downstate Illinois during a cold snap last week. And while the Apple Maps integration with the estimated EV charge is nice, once again, I was white-knuckling it to my destination because the battery estimate dropped precipitously as we got closer. Fortunately, we charged at a Ford dealership with a Level 3 charger that was 11 miles from our destination.

I now have nine different apps on my phone, and yes, I'm also using Blue Oval. We MME owners can only use our free adaptor to charge at Tesla stations that are version 3 compatible. The Level 3 chargers are bulky, heavy, and have inconsistent charging levels/times (e.g., I've seen 36 kW-per-hour vs. 70 kW-per-hour at different Blink stations).

EVs are just not for many people, especially not Ford's truck demographic.

Legit.

I spoke to someone today who doesn’t have voicemail set up on their phone because they literally don’t know how.

You think that same person will figure out 9 apps to refuel their vehicle?

They definitely aren’t made for “everyone yet.”

The sad thing is....you don't have to do that at all. The ONLY app I have to have is the Tesla app because of their chargers. Otherwise, I use charging stations the same way as a gas pump. I use have to have loosely because I can just not use Tesla chargers and be fine.

You also don’t “need” the Tesla app.

You can charge at every major charging brand with 1 single app, including Tesla…the Ford app.

Hell, just look at the "wild west" charging infrastructure. You've got how many different connections & adapters? Public charging is a crap shoot on price, authorization, functioning chargers, locations, charge speed, etc.. Big hurdle #1, if you can't home charge, EV's make zero sense. After that, you can talk about battery tech, vehicle cost, cold climate issues, etc... We have many years of core deficiencies to solve before EV's will ever make sense for the majority.

EREV Mach E would be fantastic if they could pull it off. Same great car but with no range anxiety? Sign me up
Where are you going to put the engine? You’ll still have a HVB. It still needs cooling. Unless you’re planning on using the ice engine for heat, you’ll still need the heat pump. Plus, if you are using the ice engine for heat, you’ll need air conditioning. There’s no room left in the postage stamp sized frunk.

You think the person that can’t figure out voicemail knows how to download, install and use ANY app?!?

Then try to explain to them how to route their trip, search for charging stations and how long to charge and to what percent and set up charge limits…… yada yada

You lost them at “app.”

If you wonder how the “common person” feels about EVs, just look at the major FLOP that rental EVs were.

Normal rental car- they put 20-30k miles per year on them.

Rental EV- you can buy 2 year old ones with 3500 miles. 😂
