I made a video showing how it works and an short video showing how to set it up. I found that I needed to have CarPlay running before I could see the "Vehicles" option.

Demo:

Setup:
Thanks Patrick, a couple tips are to view the route on the iPhone display—when you tap on the text of the different route options, you will see the turn-by-turn list which includes details about the charging stops, what % to charge to, how long the charging stop will take, and what % you will arrive at your destination. It appears to target 20% SoC when arriving at your destination, by adjusting charger time in 5 minute increments.

If you have a Mac you can also plan routes with Maps and see the same info.

In terms of accuracy, I think the in-car nav is the best, followed by Apple Maps. ABRP had a poor Mach-E model that overestimates consumption so I don't recommend it unless you know how tweek it for proper accuracy.

We should enjoy this feature because EV routing doesn't work with very many other vehicles yet. It's probably the fastest/easiest way to check if you can make it somewhere.

Just want to report I was able to enable it using the tips given here. Found I would need 9 charging stops between upstate NY and my daughter's home in central Florida. The list tip is great for knowing the charging locations. I then would use the PlugShare app or website to see photos and hear about people's experiences at each one.

My ‘21 Job 2 Mach-E updated to OTA 2.8.3 which included the sync update for this feature! Super happy to have my charge status and estimated charge level at destination showing up in Apple Maps now. Been waiting for this.

I have noticed one issue with using Apple Maps and the EV routing on my Mach-E. If I am at a lower state of charge (30% or less), it always tries to add a charger to the route, even when one isn't needed. This is a different than the Ford navigation which doesn't have the same issue.

I also haven't seen any place in Apple Maps where I can change this setting or remove the charging stop from the route. Is there any way to do this?

Not yet, it’s in the iOS 16 beta though, so it’s coming, should be released to everyone in September. Or you could use the public beta if you know the risks.

Thanks for the info, I will wait until the official release of iOS 16. I have tried the iOS beta software in the past and it's always been more trouble than it's worth.

I’m on the latest iOS 16 Beta and I’m not finding those settings. Can you point out where to go?

It adds chargers to the route, but I can’t remove them from the list myself; I can only add/remove additional stops I make manually, but not the chargers. I also still can’t set a “minimum arrival” charge level. For example, If I set a course to Cleveland, OH, it drops one EVgo stop in the middle of the route and has me arriving with 15%. I can change that EVgo stop, but I can’t remove it (there’s no (-) button next to the charging waypoint). Let me tell you from personal experience, you do NOT want to end-up in Cleveland with 15% SoC. There’s no high-speed charging around anywhere and not much low speed, even. :)

I haven’t used it yet since I don’t mess around with betas, trying to find where I saw it was coming.

Here's a trick someone on this forum showed me a couple of months ago. In Apple Maps after you enter your destination and see the list of routes, scroll down to "Vehicles" and select "Different Car". The App will assume it's not an EV and will give you a route without the charging stops.
