Hey y’all. First post here.

Absolutely love my Mach E select, but the only feature that hurt to give up was the ambient lighting (personal preference). Do you think Ford will offer ambient lighting as a dealer install in the future? Hopefully once the car has been out for a little longer. I feel like it’s a doable dealer install and software upgrade.

First post as well! My suggestion is to install aftermarket lighting using something off Amazon. Govee’s lightstrip has been mentioned a few times, and in my experience from other cars they’ve held up nicely enough. (Also, you get both rows of lightning, vs. Ford’s front-only ambient lighting.)

Notably, you’ll likely want to hardwire this. Here’s a good walk-through guide on how that can be done (mind your always-on vs. on-when-car-is-on circuits.) I haven’t yet tackled this myself but expect to do so in the next week or so. Will try and remember to update here with my results!

Considering the factory ambient is front only I don't think you're missing much. Honestly when it comes to doing aftermarket you'll have a single place to change both while us premium owners have to change the factory lighting AND the aftermarket in the back to match. Quite annoying. My one hope is to make a little AVR powered circuit to read the front color and autoset the back color... But that's pretty speciallized and only possible because of my background.

Yeah, updates on this would be great! I think it’s awesome that LEDs can be controlled from the main screen. I take it aftermarket LED controllers are not integrated into the software?

So you’re thinking of redoing your factory ambient lighting to include the rear seats? Also, does this kind of work you speak of void a warranty? If you do it and it works let me know!

Should clarify here - my setup is going to be a hardwired set of lights that has a separate controller. No Sync or headunit integration unfortunately. :( (As it is, the Select has no ambient light at all so this is all gain/no loss.)

I don’t understand why people are so upset about the ambient lighting being only in the front. I get it was showed initially and then removed, but I drive in the front so no problem there :p

Im coming from an E class that had ambient lighting, and I do kinda miss it. And yeah, it’s nice to have it in the front and back, in general.

I installed the Govee and absolutely love it. Such an easy installation and ticks away real nice in the MME.

Do you have more pictures and details of how you installed them? Where is the on and off switch? Looks cook how do you control or change lights?

Yeah, I'm late. I just read your post. Yes, there are kits for the factory setting in the infotainment system. The factory kit is sold by EV-Vida they also have a step-by-step instruction on installing by video
