My OTA updates have worked fine in the past. Starting on May 24 and as recently as this morning, June 2nd, 22S41 and 22S29 have failed. Yesterday, June 1st, I took our 2021 Premium AWD Extended to the dealer to have them do the updates. When they finished, they said they had 9 updates that they did and none of them were the 22S41 or 22S29. Further the service manager showed me the screen for our MME that it did not show that we needed the two updates. The updates they reported doing were, BECM, SOBDMC, SOBDMB, CMR, PSCM, GFM, SOBDM, PCM, AND ABS. This morning, I again received, for the 11th day in a row the message in Ford Pass, "HELP US INSTALL YOUR NEW FORD POWER-UP". We also receive, on the screen, most restarts, a reminder that say "SOFTWARE UPDATE REMINDER", and the option to update now or have it done during the normal time. Once we received a message on the screen that "Vehicle not Updated" Update was canceled because "it was interrupted by another process."

While this is going on we also have "12 Volt Battery Fault, Service Soon" sometimes appear briefly on the dash screen. but it quickly goes away. This has been going on for quite some time. The dealership has checked it out in the past and did put in a new 12-volt battery. The problem continued. Now in addition to getting the on-screen warning from time to time, we started occasionally getting messages in Ford Pass, "Plug in to Maintain 12 Volt Battery..." While at the dealership, they checked the battery and could find no problems.

Not sure if these two issues are related, but they might be as I understand that if the 12-volt batter is low, or perhaps a warning generated by a computer bug, the updates might fail. Of course, that does not explain the inability of the dealership to do the 22S41 and 22S29 nor find that we need them. Did I mention this morning, after visiting the dealership yesterday, according to the big touchscreen, still needs the updates and according to Ford Pass messages, the battery is still has an issue and it still wants my help to do the updates? And how is it that we "needed" the 9 updates and have not received notice to go to the dealer or OTA notices? Images attached, except for the dash screen, it goes away to quickly and appears to infrequently to capture.

Do you have the ability to hook up a 12v maintainer to your 12 v battery?
If so, do that, like around 9pm tonight, and I’ll bet the update will happen! Bill P

I thought if the vehicle is working as it should, the 12 volt battery charges from the main battery. While I do not know how to interpret the Car Scanner App, this is what it showed with the car not started in accessary mode.

I'll try that. Also will try resetting the BMS, Battery Management System.
BMS is not watching the 12V at all. If the system is reporting 12V needs to be plugged in it’s due to dropping voltage. Get a maintainer on it as suggested above.

12V issues will act up in mysterious ways in these cars. We no longer need the CCA but the more deep cycle capability which is partially the reason for the smaller AGM battery in the MachE.

I had a very similar experience -- I opened a ticket with Ford and when they got back to me they said 1) drive the car for a half hour and then 2) charge to 100%, and then 3) retry the update.

It worked.

I have had 3 12 volt battery faults in about 6 months. Mach E is 14 months old. Today I took the Mach E to the dealer to see if there was any actual damage to the battery. Had a very knowledgeable young man that said that the way to truly charge the 12 volt was to drive the car. Charging does not charge the 12 volt much.
This is such a eye opener since I have read that charging the battery will also charge the 12 Volt. I also posted earlier in the week that to get an OTA update to work try putting on your parking brake. No reason why just that sometimes updates work doing that. Ford Motor In Vehicle Technology Department told me to put on the parking break after driving the car for 30 minutes and it worked like a charm for 4.2.6.

Charging the HV battery DOES also charge the 12V battery. However when the car is finished charging, the 12V also stops charging. If the car is plugged in and NOT ACTIVELY CHARGING the 12V will NOT be charged. High voltage charging must be active.

I charged for 5-6 hours last night and my 12V was at 99% SoC afterwards. Those that don't drive very far might only charge for 30 minutes before it finishes which isn't enough time.

When I charge it takes about 4 hours to charge but then if I am only driving short distances I think that is draining the 12V. I will try driving longer distances more often and see if that changes anything. Thanks for your information...
