First fast charging experience- it was free!!

Huh? If you're getting charging with the free kwh through fordpass, aren't you getting free charging?

Yes and no.. Technically it is free because you are paying nothing for it, but it is coming out of your "free" credit balance.

For a few days in time, I was getting really free fast charging. Every EA station I used said "Hello Free" and then allowed me to charge for free without using any of my Ford credits. Once Ford updated my original 250 balance to 500, then the really free charging stopped and it started coming out of my balance.

I have used EA chargers probably about 7-9 times and every time they worked perfectly. I don’t want to jinx myself but they re the best chargers I have used on the road. Evgo is really Evslow. Not sure what my magic is, but no issues so far.

I have Plug and charge all setup. All I did was pull up, plug in and it said Hello Free and started to charge. It quickly ramped up to 123kw and then we walked away. The Ford Pass app sent me a notification when it reached 80%.

I just did my first public charging experience as well. Have had the car a month almost and use 240 in the garage. But I messed up the settings in FordPass and did not have a full charge for the 200 mile round trip.
I had the same experience as MurphyDog Found the EA charger on FordPass, it told us to plug in first and I had already set things up on blue oval. I went into target, used the restroom and bought two cards, came out and stopped it. Had added 150 miles of range so quickly. I thought it was charging me but then when I checked my charging history it was free and my 250 balance was down to 210.

At one point in 2021, Ford felt bad with delayed orders due to chip holds, and awarded some an extra 250 free hours. Of course that hold was much less than those of us that will end up close to one year waiting, and we won't get anything additional...

Thanks. I guess I missed that point. But I did wait 8 months. My neighbor ordered the same car the same day, different paint color, and still doesn’t have his.

It was orders earlier in 2021, before "chip hold" became a way of life.
