Ford, why do reservations not have priority?

How many vehicles (and $$$) sold is how dealer size is measured, in my view.
True. But we have some BIG dealers that move LOTS of product. And FORD feeds them. Its all about the bucks. $$$$$$

Right. But a dealership that looks big to a consumer may move less vehicles than another that looks smaller.

Many dealers (including mine) have an auxiliary lot with many hundreds more vehicles on it (historically, not this year). Right now my dealer has 126 new vehicles on his lot. Another big local dealer has 467. Small dealer has 50. But my dealer likely has less than the other big dealer because he moves more vehicles.

Using the Wayback machine, I checked my dealer 2 years ago, and he had over 1,700 vehicles.

I think the main point is that the dealers who move the most iron will get priority, not the ones with the most real estate!

My dealer told me that ZEV states are also getting higher priority than non-ZEV states. It makes sense, but of course if you pick a dealer that is a slow mover for Ford, the ZEV status may not help. For sure the most important factor is the allocation Ford gives to their best dealers, as others have posted here. Best case is to pick a fast moving dealer in a ZEV state.

Well, lucky me. In a ZEV state. And I thought NJ was just a $hithouse of high taxes and over population. To date, 12 states have adopted the ZEV Program (California, Colorado, Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington). The ZEV program requires increasing sales of ZEVs over the next decade.?

Not sure on that. I know a few guys out here in CA who have been waiting and waiting, all the while seeing non-reservations get delivered.

Yeah, it could be the Ford rep told my dealer that just to make him feel better. Or it could be a minor factor. My dealer is a small dealer in a small town, so that is most likely the main reason it took four months before Ford even accepted the order, and five months before it was even scheduled for production. Meanwhile I moved on to the GT in NJ, which is a ZEV state BTW.

I would like to know this as well... Reserved July 2020, ordered a GT in May and still no car. But, I see a bunch of people who didn't reserve and order after me already get there car?!?!? GRUMPY!!!
Do those people live in your area? Because the manufacturers need to sell vehicles in ZEV states, they have been showing up there. Recently I was told heavy shipments in the Northeast. This could be a factor, but not certai.

You NJ people have to stop moving to VA, clogging our roads and voting for higher taxes. ;-)
