Yup, you only get 16 hours a day at 9.6kwh... Thats more than enough for our 2 ev household.
10 yr doesn't bother me. I kinda like the locked in rate. Who doesn't think FPL will raise their prices in the next 10 yrs?
And my brain wants to know why you couldnt just time shift that load with a battery bank and power your whole house?
Because the charger they install is intelligent (was JuiceBox). Therefore, they can see exactly WHAT you are charging. And maybe they don't care, because they have excess power and they're getting $31 a month.
We've had it for almost 2 years now.
It saves us about $40 a month.
No issue so far. You just plug it in and it will charge whenever it's off-peak (which now in winter is 10pm to 6pm and 10am to 6pm). In summer it was from 9pm to noon.
Only one EV at the moment.
But when they installed, I asked about 'what if I get another car, or have visitors over that want to charge...'.
They said it wouldn't matter, just that a Tesla would need a converter to use it.
If you do a decent amount of driving (15,000 miles/year or more) and plan to be in your house for the next 3+ years, I think it's a no-brainer.
I'm on the $38/month plan as I didn't have an outlet / line.
Mine was installed in November of 2022 - I have a sheet that I've been tracking my usage.
Since then compared to if I just paid for the electrical usage it has cost me an additional $175, however that does not factor in the savings of installation of the electrical line and charger (about $1600)
Also I got an email this morning saying FPL is swapping my Juicebox for a Pulsar Plus at no cost.
To me that is well work the slight extra - additionally if I am driving more then I have more savings
