I built my '34 hot rod with door poppers operated by a fob.

First, is the frunk release by-wire, or cable?

Has anyone installed a solenoid and a hidden button or parallel cable to a hidden place outside?

Groceries.... Makes no sense to have to reach inside..... Y'know. -- Maybe it'll be changed by the time mine comes

"New for 2022 - if it opens, there's a button on the FOB for it".

If the body work is soft enough, a button hidden behind a panel would be invisible.

The leaked document said it would be a button on the door, in the phone app, and on the Sync screen. I wouldn't be surprised if it's also included on new fobs.
Soounds like they got a little too much push-back for leaving out such an obvious and easily remedied omission.

Even if the fob woke the car up and you pressed 1, 2, 3 on the door, I'd be happy.

No. There were regulatory hurdles the emergency exit button in the Frunk had to pass before they could activate the system. That’s also the reason for the Frunk dividers.

Perfect. A bit Flintstones-ish, but if it works..... In my MGA and XK120, the Brits installed 'pulls' (rope) to work the door latches. Quaint.

It's for a dead battery or blown fuse by-pass. This does allow for a future remote.

Maybe by the time mine's built.
All of that initial work was just for the (increasingly) unlikely event that a flat 12V battery prevents access to the regular pull handle in the cabin.

I too expected a solenoid, but it is a far more efficient small motor driven gear box actuator, less power over a bit longer time (about second to wind up the gears).

Here is the other related thread, not for regular frunk use, but how to get in when the cabin is locked and the frunk release handle is not accessible (there are also super capacitors in the side door lock circuits, so we are talking somewhere between next morning and later after the capacitors bled off too).

Frunk Bumper Release 9V battery does not work, 12V works

Front Trunk Dividers? What Front Trunk Dividers? I just looked in my Front Trunk and didn’t see any dividers! Oh, wait. You mean the ones I removed ???
