Oh wow, thanks for that catch. I assumed it was an XL rating in 265 since they’re rated that in 255. 275/45/20 does indeed open up options at a way better price point as you mentioned. Looks wise how would 275/45 differ from 255/45 with these wheels? If you were in my shoes with a 20x9 et40 square setup what tire size would you go with?
I personally would go with the 275's. Maybe it is because I have 20"x9.5" ET40 wheels with 275/40R20's that I have been running for my winter setup for a couple of years.

The 255's will look a little stretched on 9" while the 275's will look a little more normal with a slight bulge if that makes sense.

You’re stock height correct? Do you have pics of your square winter setup? I’m hoping it’ll give me a general idea of how my setup should look other than being 1/2” less wide.

Because this is an Atomic Wheels thread and my winter setup does not have their wheels, I will not post photos of my car on this thread but I will DM you the photos. I have nothing against Atomic wheels and know of several members that have them and they are a great wheel at a great price.

I do not see 255 wide tires being even a little stretched on 9” rims. Now if the rim was 9.5”, then yes.

245 width on 9” it does have that look slightly, and you don’t even get any rim protection.

Atomic wheels are pretty nice wheels, so I can’t imagine anyone going wrong with it.

I have photos of many tires and wheels that I have tested. Below are two photos of 20x9 wheels. The top photo has 255's and the bottom, 265's. To me the 255's look a little stretched. It is not a huge amount but they are not as flat as the 265's. I could not find one at that angle with 275's which have a slight bulge to them. However, these are Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 winter tires which are slightly narrower than a Pilot Sport 4S summer 255/45R20's so that can affect the way the sidewall looks.

I went on and got myself an early Christmas gift and ordered the AW01 model. I’ll be waiting until spring when the weather clears up to mount and install them. How much of a visual difference is there between 255/45/20 and 265/45/20 on a 20x9 et40 wheel? I’d like to go with as wide of a tire as possible but there is a massive difference in price between the two sizes in the Continental DWS06+ that I’m going with (255 is $500+ cheaper).
If you want a wider tire, you can use 275/40, not 45 — that would be better. It will be nice and wide, with a slightly smaller overall diameter than the 255, but still perfect. You won’t have any fitment issues, and it will give you an aggressive look if that’s what you’re going for.

Chrollonati actually made a mistake when he mentioned 275/45. He did mean 275/40 which was the tire size I had recommended since he wants a more aggressive look. 😊
