Going to Southern California from the Bay Area and I’m planning my trip.

I have a 2023 Premium SR RWD.

will the Grapevine kill my car ?

Do you have any experience or advice on this trip with your MME ?

Thanks…

I much prefer the 101 (I'm in Ventura County, so the 5 is not the best choice) and am usually going to the Santa Cruz area.
Better scenery (pretty low bar to be prettier than the 5) and decent DC Fast charging choices!

LFP pack has a different HVBJB. You’re low risk.

No issues. Don’t do 90 and you’ll do fine.

Just back from a trip, although not in the MME, where we did the 5 north, then came back the 101. There appeared to be many charging opportunities on both, but we much preferred the 101.

Just try your best to avoid the 101 between Ventura and LA during rush hours, it’s a nightmare IME and worse than the 5.

Yesterday we took the 101 to the 405 south. We hit the Sepulveda pass just before 2 and it took 1.5 hours to get to Long Beach. Granted it was Friday. I’ve refitted the old joke comparing BMWs and porcupines to Tesla drivers. We were pulling our camper trailer …

On your way down, you'll get much of what you lost going up. I prefer the 5 just because it seems faster. I try to charge every 150 miles or so, and always have a charger backup plan ... just in case.

I did Pacifica -LA road many times. The famous HVJB issue appeared on my ‘21 GT not there, but much later at running over speed limit in Burlingame. My ‘22 CR1 made this road about 6-8 times in the last 10 months and so far ok.
The biggest challenge for MME SR is to make from Kettleman EA to Valencia:/Santa Clarita - I hate Lost Hills EA since it’s crazy neglected station.

101 road is nice if you do not mind to spend extra time and remember to be super careful around King City since it’s famous for speed traps for years.
