When I do the irish jig behind the car, the hatch rarely goes up. Damn if it didn't go up when I was drying the rear bumper, and before I could stop it with my slow reflexes, it hit the open garage door above. Not too bad, but a scratch nevertheless. Watch out for this when detailing your car, and be ready; adjust the opening height to be sure you'll bang your head every time, or shut off the automatic hatch feature.

I finally figured out the leg motion without hitting my shin into the bumper, but it took a few weeks (or, the damn thing just finally started to work, not sure which).

Every great once in a while when I'm tucking the charge cord (EVSE is side wall back by the passenger side rear) under the back of the car, the back door opens.

You probably already know, but just in case - Did you set the MME max height for rear hatch open, for your garage door? The hatch open height is a user setting (button on the bottom of the hatch door).

Setting opening height is the first thing I did on this car. Learned the hard way on my escape. Never have to worry about it now.

I don’t have my car yet but I think my plan is to set the power hatch to manual. It only takes a couple clicks to change it to automatic when I expect to need it.

I’ll live with that slight inconvenience to avoid this sort of incident.

My garage is very low. To avoid a ceiling strike I’d have to set the height so low it would be nearly inaccessible.

And let’s not take that functionality for granted. Chrysler still doesn’t give owners the ability to limit the opening height and people have been complaining about it for years. Nor did my Mitsubishi.

Even if you set it to a low height, you can easily push it higher manually when you need too.
This is the right answer. When I bang my forehead and swear, I push the hatch up.
