I've noticed for a while, while cruising at highway speeds (BlueCruise or not), then over taking someone there a very slight jerk, almost like a transmission kickdown, then burst of power; wondering if the Mach E GT or AWD only disengages one of the motor's to conserve energy while cruising, and engages second motor when additional power is needed... Or maybe, cruises only on front motor then switches to back motor for power? Anyone else noticed this?

Opposite, actually - it uses only the rear motor and adds the front one below 30 mph (if I remember correctly) and during acceleration. Verified by ODBII reads.

There's no clutch to physically disengage the permanent magnet motors.

My 2022 Premium AWD ER is smooth as silk. Have you had your High Voltage Junction Box recall 23S56 done? I wonder if it could be failing.

Is it a new thing that you've noticed or has it always been there? You have a bit more giddy up with the GT so perhaps normal and just more noticeable than on my Premium AWD.

I've noticed it the pass few months; kinda want to say after one of the OTA updates, but didn't really take a mental note of when it started happening.

The HVBJB has a few failure modes, but slightly jerky acceleration isn’t one of them.

I have never read anything about one of the motors disengaging at any point. Not to cast doubt on the reply, but could people verify and elaborate on this please?

OP could just be describing traction control kicking in. Especially if roads are wet or tires are worn.

Front and rear motor tear down and analysis. Note: no clutches.

Good to know. Mine goes in next week for the recall but hasn't given me any problems.

Just an observation - the folks with profile pictures on this stream have red Mach-Es. Great colour and that's what I have too.

This is what a typical gravel->pavement->freeway->offramp->pavement->city->parked looks like for me:
The top graph is the Commanded Primary (rear) Motor Torque.
The second graph is the Commanded Secondary (front) Motor Torque.
The third graph is vehicle speed.

At highway speeds, the primary (front rear) motor is providing the majority of the torque. I don't feel or hear any weird transition when the secondary motor starts providing torque.
