All, had a situation similar to this (https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/car-rolls-backwards-uphill-in-d.7067/) that has now happened twice to me.
The specific setup is parallel parking on a steep hill, and needing to switch between drive and reverse to angle the car into a space. Today, When I switched from drive to reverse with auto hold on, the car moved forward while in reverse whileI was on a downhill angle. The second time this happened I was in close quarters with a bollard in front, with the whole family in the car so it was very disconcerting. I didn’t want to let the car go forward any more and get too close on the bollard and risk damage.
Both times, the resolution was fully powering down and then going directly into reverse to back the car up.
Does anyone know if this is an issue with either park assist or auto hold? Both times this was in manual operation, not auto park. Both times, quite a steep hill but not any kind of situation where any of the wheels were out of contact like in the link above.
I drive a 2021 CA Route 1, job 2 RWD if it matters.
