Home definition changed

I use this for fun so it's no big deal. I use the "Where To" feature and I select "Home as my destination. The route selected is fine but when I reach the destination, the address is the house across the street. 517 instead of 516. This used to work just fine. How can the GPS get the wrong address?

GPS doesn’t know anything about addresses. The map app has the address and correlates that to a latitude and longitude. Most consumer GPS are accurate to +- 100 yards.
When you are driving the gps provides your current Latitude and longitude (position) to the map app and that is displayed on the map.

The problem is the address resolution, that can be off a fair amount depending on the cartography.

Thanks for the reply. The weird part is that it used to know my address and this time it didn’t. The FordPass has my correct address but the destination guide has or had a hiccup. It gave me the correct directions and knew the correct orientation, just got the address wrong. “You’ve reached your destination on the right”. Correct! “Arriving at 517 Maple Street”. Wrong!

The problem is the address resolution, that can be off a fair amount depending on the cartography.

The spec is 100yds. To get 10 yards requires more than 4 satellites. 3 yards or less requires a differential correction source. As I said I wrote applications that were used to survey the location of things on the earths surface for years.

My house is 100 yards off the street. The map apps all show it at the end of the paved street. I put in corrections with both Google and Apple. They both said thank you for the info and promptly ignored my input.?

It looks like this is just a stupid machine doing what it’s told to do. I say that after debugging hardware and software since 1972.
The Home definitions was corrupted and the update was better but not perfect.
I know not to completely trust it, but sometimes I forget.

It’s easy for me to allow people to make mistakes but a machine; NEVER!!

You have to be smarter than the machine.
