When I first got my Mach E I was super excited (Before all my issues) and I wanted to get to making some modifications. I thought the interior could use some additional lighting and I had seen in a different Ford that the shifter was illuminated and wondered why the Mach E wasn't also illuminated.
So I bought a used shifter off ebay and got to work. I made a silicone mold off the original cover and cast a replacement cover in clear and in smoke. I found out that an off the shelf 24 pixel led ring fit almost perfect and 3D printed an adapter to hold it in place. Currently it's using wled to run the pixels. Ideally having it tied to the vehicles RGB lighting would be great, but before I got to that point I started having issues with my car and have not got around to installing it or attempting to figure out that integration.
I just thought I would share it as I put a good amount of work in to making this. I do not have plans to make more of these as it's a time consuming process and I dont have proper equipment to produce these in any kind of quantity. I added a few pictures of the shifter assembly. One that has all 3 covers, Smoke,Clear Frosted, and Stock. The clear and smoke are painted as well to prevent light bleed.
Short video with the led's. In reality this can do any color/annimation supported by WLED.
