The top one has two clocks but you cannot edit it just swipe the stack

Apple CarPlay is behind Android Auto with the maps. It’s obnoxious trying to deal with interacting with Apple Maps in the car. It’s a giant map screen in our car and iOS won’t let you do any movement with it. Lame!

So this is confirmed still no pinch-to-zoom on Apple Maps?

For the life of me I do not understand this. It's far less safe and a nightmare of UX.

I assumed that was to do with the screen being unable to track two fingers at same time. I haven't seen any app that does on my Mach-E

That’s like that in the music as well. It’s a motion limit to keep you from scrolling like crazy.

It's not the best reason. On Android you initially get an alphabet screen. Select the letter and you can only scroll podcasts which start with that letter. Apple limits you to the first 10 podcasts in your total list. So forget choosing anything which starts with a "The".
Apple's solution isn't really a solution nor does it address the problem as you grab your phone to select the podcast you wish to listen to. Apple was never an innovator but they use to be the best implementor. ?

The stock map/nav system has pinch to zoom and I believe google maps on Android Auto also does pinch to zoom...

Ford does not control anything on the CarPlay display.
Different size screens will display differently and this is a beta.

It does, it stops lot a many permissions and screen dimensions on how to do it.

That is exactly why carplay looks diff on different cars, while the same base code is given, ford has a say on how it works.

Also that’s why CarPlay with smart zoom on/off looks different. Also, with the smart zoom turned off there are only two widget stacks.

As an iOS developer how has worked on apps that display on CarPlay. I completely disagree. Everything is on the Apple side the only thing Apple gets from the Ford side is the screen dimensions.

Apple can easily change how things are displayed on the dimensions of the Mach-e screen. This is a VERY early beta and I’ve reported the silly 3 widgets instead of 4 and will continue to do so after each beta is released.

The screen can DEFINITELY track multiple fingers for gestures. It works with Ford nav & Android Auto. This is some sort of fucked Apple thing.

Yeah, actually I too reported that, but the fact that we are unable to edit the one that already exists, there was what felt off. That is why you never saw me say about having 4 widgets. Apple/Ford with smart zoom turned off only has 3 widgets.
