Both this morning and late this past November, I went to my Boston area drive to drive the Pony, and after turning it on, immediately got a Stop Safely Now error. Neither time did I see error codes or any foreshadowing such as the turtle. Both times I used Roadside Assistance within the Ford app to get it towed to the dealer. Both times, in the time it took for the tow to arrive, it eventually started up and so the tow driver was able to drive it on the bed.
Checked these forums on that Nov day and did see evidence of 12V problems - suggested this to the dealer. They claimed it was fixed a few days later and I picked it up, and the rep had no diagnosis or tech info for me. There was some phone tag about getting the diagnosis but I gave up. I figured it was some 12V issue that was resolved.
All good until this morning. The dealer says their EV tech is backed up and they won't get to it for 3-4 weeks.
By now I've read @desiato's thread -- some good coincidences there but here are my details:
-Miles and age well within the main warranty.
-Battery is 2.5yo since assembly; 2.2 since delivery.
-Boston
-usage: many days 5-10 miles, rare days 0, rare days 50
-charge 1-2 x per week, sometimes 20 -> 80, sometimes 50 -> 80
-charge rate has always been 50A but I now see I can set it anywhere 6-50 in my Autel app
-I don't have ODB whatever nor a battery tender nor have I put holes in the panel over the battery ports. Car maintenance not an interest but I'll up my game if the payoff is big.
-parked in the drive
The car does wake up a fair bit when I go by (due to Paak) with the dog etc. I prob could leave it unlocked. I def could charge at a lower rate. I haven't found the original thread with the trick for charging by using the blower (help please?).
I'm confident this community will be more useful to me this week than the dealer. Gratitude!
1. Does this sound like a 12V problem?
2. Does it seem reasonable to retrieve it from the dealer now (before they touch it), follow advice here on 12V maintenance, and expect this to be a reasonably sustainable solution?
2a. Should part of that be replacing the battery?
