The more modular the better for Ford.

Still, would like them to develop one for a sports car with the same driving dynamics as the current Mustang Coupe/Convertibles. I will just keep on hoping.
We do know directly from Farley himself that a skunkworks team is developing "Probably our most strategically important EV". He said it wasn't something they've talked about yet, said it was being developed with people who worked in F1 at redbull developing the areo, but that was it. Some think this is some truck or SUV, I'm not convinced.

I get areo matters for every EV, but having someone from F1 working on the areo for some electric explorer or bronco wouldn't make a ton of sense to me, talk about wasted potential. I think what he's talking about is an electric GT supercar, a mustang coupe, or something else entirely, like a revival of the rs200. We saw Ford designers sketching what a new rs200 would look like not too long ago, and Farley has expressed interest in this trend of all terrain supercars lately.

There's a reason everyone makes EV SUVs and there's almost no EV sportscars. With that battery skateboard underneath, you're not going to be able to have a low-profile like the Mustang.
Good sir, there are several electric hypercars with rooflines several inches lower than the current mustang. True, this USED to be an issue when battery tech was brand new, and you probably couldn't could a coupe on the current mach-e platform. But it's definitely possible.

Cool reading. I am eagerly awaiting the unveil of the full size SUV. If it's coming out in 2025 then we should be close to the unveil. Is CES a possibility?
I'd temper your expectations. The electric three rows are apparently very controversial within Ford. They apparently look extremely futuristic, very, very areo driven in their design. Described as a blend of the model X and Prius but more out there looking. Sharply recessed rear end, lower ground clearance than the mach-e, front end with a smooth dart like shape, screens like the latest Nautilus going across the entire top of the dash pillar to pillar. Very radical vehicle. Hit or miss with most people who see it, bombed in consumer clinics, design has been described as very odd.

The Lincoln version, the next aviator, has been described as a production version of the Lincoln star concept, only more exotic and futuristic with its proportions. Someone said if the current aviator is like Lincolns take on the range Rover velar, the next gen will be like their take on the Aston Martin DBX or the Lamborghini Urus.

800V? 1000V?

Will they design and build their own motors/inverters?

Oh really? What I want is something like a R1S that has CarPlay and a local dealer for service but not something that looks minivan-ish (like the EV9). Having an electric version of the US Explorer pretty much fits the bill perfectly and was what I was hoping for.

Yeah, here is what Ford insiders who've seen it have said in their own words. Also, one said it looks like a 1980s rover sd1, so I took the liberty of including a photo of one of those.

Go stand next to a Mustang, get out the ruler and imagine it an inch taller.

Not a problem.

And those sedans I listed could likely easily be an inch lower if they designed them as such, but that’s not really what sedans are going for.

Either way, electric sports cars and coupes are on the way.
Which ones? Nobody has named one.

This is pretty simple...seats are mounted on the floor. Batteries are under the floor. Having a battery will increase the seating height by the thickness of the battery. Thus most 2 door "sports cars" would look goofy as EVs. Add in the dwindling sales and lower profits of cars vs. EVs, and it's a no brainer.

I listed a bunch of sedans that are 1” taller than the Mustang coupe.

1” isn’t going to make it “goofy.” And they easily could make them 1” shorter to match the Mustang in height for a more sporty look.

But if you really need ONE example…..the first Tesla roadster was only 44” tall (11 inches shorter than the Mustang).

It just isn’t the problem you say it is. The battery doesn’t have to be on the floor.

As far as upcoming EV coupes and sports cars, here is a list-

2025 Corvette
2025 Charger
2025 Deus Vayanne
2025 Fisker Ronin
2025 Maserati Folgore
Polestar 6
Tesla roadster

And these are just the “normal” cars.

If you include the EV supercars, some are quite low to the ground-

The exception proves the rule. Listing supercars and cars which don't even exist sort of proves my point.

If you say so.

I listed a bunch of existing sedans within an inch of the Mustang and then a bunch of upcoming cars that will be coupes and sports cars.

Basically there is nothing that backs up your original point.

You said “There's a reason everyone makes EV SUVs and there's almost no EV sportscars. With that battery skateboard underneath, you're not going to be able to have a low-profile like the Mustang.”

You can have a low profile like the Mustang, many are even lower and more to come. ?‍♂

Huh? A tape measure backs up my point. You listed one $150k car that's within an inch. Then a supercar they're making 150 of and some concepts that aren't even real cars. No production EV that's shorter than a plain jane mustang.

Again, from a packaging perspective, making a low-slung EV is difficult and sedans are in low demand with less profit anyways.

If you think a 55” mustang compared to a 56” Model S and 57” Model 3 means it can’t be done, then I dunno what to tell you.

As mentioned there are plenty of EV coupes and low vehicles still planned.

Wait long enough and an electric Mustang coupe will probably show up too.

Does anyone else find this Owl thing to be quite ugly? As an aspiring car designer myself, I don't like to rag on most designs, but that thing is rough. It looks like a cartoon, just too exaggerated in the proportions and surfaces.

Very disappointed if that is what comes out. Maybe the Lincoln will be my next EV or if Jeep ever gets to making a 3 row EV (I wouldn't hold my breath, they can't make an EV at all).
