Yeah, the fan and compressor on these cars can be very loud.
Mine was cooling the battery yesterday and I was struggling to have a conversation while standing next to it. We both had to step inside the building so we could hear ourselves think.

I live in Dallas/Fort Worth area, and yeah, when it's hot like it has been, the a/c is very loud for the first few minutes, but then calms down. Back in spring and into early summer, it wasn't like this, but the past few weeks, starting it when very hot outside... it is loud. But it only last a few minutes. One thing I will say for the positive, it is an unbelievably great a/c... I mean it is blowing out super cold air when it takes my other cars much longer to get that nice feeling cool air.
Same experience, when I start the car remotely and walk out to it in the afternoon sun, it's sorta loud. The little flapperdoos on the front bumper are open so it appears to me that it's the A/C running and probably some battery cooling/conditioning stuff as well (the car has been sitting outside for hours in the sun, everything's gonna heat soak). But it takes all of 10-15 seconds for my A/C to be blowing cold air and maybe a minute or two for it to "step down" when it's in Auto mode after the initial cooling. When I remote start my car from my desk and walk out to it to leave (roughly 150-200 feet?) it's already comfortably cool inside.

Not gonna complain if it makes a little noise to get there.
