I use Android Auto daily in my 23 Mach E Premium. for music, navigation and info. It works 100% with my mobile phone connected via wireless. However, it has intermittent issues when using USB cable to the data port. Android Auto loads but voice recognition connection fails or music freezes. I have tried different cables with no change. I can connect the phone to the charge only USB port behind the console to connect AA via wireless and still charge phone. Android auto also works fine when connected via USB in another vehicle. Do I bring the Mach E in for warranty service to replace the Data USB port? Will they?

It still may be the cable. Some cars are pickier about the cable than others. Toyota is one example that jumps to mind. I have a 6 ft cable that works fine in many other brands but never works in a Toyota. I have to use a shorter cable. 🤷‍♂️

Are you using the USB-A port or the USB-C port? Lots of folks have trouble with low quality USB-C cables.

USB A port. I have not tried a USB-C cable.

I will pick up another cable. When I first starting using Android Auto several years ago with my Chevy Volt, it was picky about cable.

Just pitching in that I also had this issue, and had to take it to a dealer to have the USB ports replaced. They also had to install a new APIM module.

I have tried 6 different cables for both the USB A and USB C ports. It fails on all. I think you are right. Ports need to be replaced. I have appt with service next week.

Have you tried different phones? I'd rule out the phone first.
