New (to me) 2023 Premium AWD ER. On my 3rd EV -- thought I was going to end up in a Hyundai or Kia this time, but was impressed by my test drive of a new GT. Found this one with low miles as a trade at a Subaru dealer and jumped on it.

My Bolt EV was named "Eevee" (get it?) and my Tesla "Eevee3". Originally called this one "Jolteon" as the electric type evolution, until I realized that electric was already implied by the Eevee pun and I remembered the color was Vapor Blue Metallic -- meet "Vaporeon".

Two noob questions:
- What is the point of the shiny black section of the steering column?
- What is the whirring sound in the back of the car when I start to move?

I missed your second question, but you may be hearing the external speaker... There is one speaker in the front bumper, and I know some cars have another in back. It's on at low speeds to warn folks you're sneaking up on them. The back up chime comes from the same speaker.

No, I can tell that one. It's probably the rolling door locks based on the timing but it's not the "clunk" that most cars have.

If it’s the low decibel buzz, it’s the door locks. If you hear it, park the car and then press the unlock button on the door, I suspect you will hear the same sound.

Your Vapor Blue is the best color. Anyone who says otherwise is just jealous.

I think that’s the occupancy “camera” but it’s more of a motion sensor?

That little black button looking thing is the In-Vehicle Temperature and Humidity Sensor.

The motion sensors are behind the grill areas on the overhead console.

Welcome! Our 2025 Mach E is Black. It is a nice stealth monochromatic look but if it were available, would have gone with Vapor Blue. I’m still a relative newbie ( 4+ months and just hit 8k miles). Lots of normal new sounds to get used to including clicks and clacks when recharging. My favorite though is the sound of silence relative to combustion engine cars.

Welcome, great questions on new ownership. You certainly made an excellent choice, including the color. My car's name is Sparky, you can see it - or rather most of it - to the left in my accompanying member photo while at a Tesla charger.
