My wife lost her 2nd key fob and I got a spare one. The quotes so far from dealership & locksmiths in the area is $200+. Is this the going rate for OC area? Can anyone recommend a place that is cheaper?

Hindsight is 20/20, but if you bought the 3rd fob before losing the 2nd, you could program it yourself in less than a minute.

Dealerships and locksmiths have the software to cut a 2nd unique key. Don't find someone who simply copies the 1st key. It will take the dealership about 10 minutes, they shouldn't charge $200+.

Ahhhh but the dealerships do charge around that much, regardless of the small amount of time it takes them to program the new fob.

Yes, hindsight is 20/20. We have 2 mach-e. My is the very first one which came with only 1 key fob. So I purchased a 2nd one right away. Afterwards we all know Ford realized the stupidly of only giving us one and decided to give us the 2nd one. So I got 3 total for the first mach-e. My wife's 2022 came with 2 fob but lost one.

So basically, I want to reprogram one of mine to her mach-e. Dealership is a time sink since I basically will waste half a day at the dealership. Mobile locksmith is preferable but was expecting a more reasonable cost for the service.

Just $200, is that for the replacement key fob and the programming? Airport Marina Ford near LAX wanted $500 for both. It's outrageous! The cheapest way I've found is getting a replacement key fob from Ebay for $90 and the dealer will program it for only $200. Such a deal. I could hunt around for locksmith but it doesn't seem to be much less, if any.
