It might not be welded contractors. It might be blown fuses inside HVBJB and that is a good scenario because it reduces the risk of fire.
Possibly, but if it's a blown fuse / current limiter wouldn't an unpowered contractor default to open for safety?

Actually... lol the interface wasn't refined (on the earlier prototype) when I first flew it in Germany and I bricked it on final approach while stupidly fiddle-f$%^ing to get some display indications back that froze.

Caught all of it on video! The look on my face hilarious when I realize I lost all thrust and was I trying to recall the sequence to re-engage the system thinking I had to dead-stick the landing. I was able to reboot on short final, did an awesome touch and go and got to fly out some more under a full moon at a German airbase!
That sounds like my towing experience, without the touch-and-go part.

There was talk that incorrect lifting by the aluminum battery rails might cause some forces that can damage the hv block, such as a crack in an interconnect block or components. Or, there could just be a failed contactor, fuse, or interconnect from some kind of bad components on install, or infant failures. The precharge failure scenario is interesting, and may well be another failure mode.

Here a few pics of the new HVBJB. Today 4/11/22 a tech was preparing to drop the battery. Tomorrow crack the HV case and swap the box. I'd imagine it will be done by end of day Wednesday.

That's cool they sent pics! Mine did not take long once they dropped the battery, I bet you're back in the cockpit tomorrow....

Well this is sad.

It's back together and is driveable but it won't charge properly. Currently the problem is undiagnosed without further info on how they will proceed. Time for another rental car.

Two weeks now without the Mach E.

I do not get those kind of details unless I show up there. They ended their workday without communicating the next step to me. I suppose tomorrow's another day..

But yeah, that was my thought. It could easily been fried during the process by accident. It's not like most are proficient in these types of repairs. The tech is senior at the dealer service department so he was spoken highly of but who knows?

you know better than me, there's a clear checklist flow chart in the manual of what you test and what you do as a result. I think they changed this manual last week just as they were starting my repair to not automatically replace both HVBJB and BECM, but hopefully you just need to rely upon reading skills and not intuition of a skilled "mechanic". I assume the Ford techs are able to do some handholding here to poke things along.

* Update *

Work completed only to find LVB will not charge.

No ETA on LVB!

This is an amazing oversight by Ford. To introduce a "one of a kind" lightweight AGM battery as the only LVB part approved. What a linchpin!

Brighter minds then mine at Ford should be working on spooling up an additional LVB supplier ASAP to augment need.

Is it time for Ford to stop the Mach E production line and divert parts supply to existing in field vehicles?

What's worse, delivery delays or stranded vehicles?

Scooped up my GT and all appears to be good!

Big thanks to macheforum.com and the several forum members here that helped scoot this along! This forum has been an indispensable resource for early adopters in Fords first true EV venture.

The case manager at Ford corporate was helpful and maintained good contact.

It wasn't a bad turn around for the work that needed to be performed!

Hopefully the new junction box performs better than the old one!

The LVB did not need replacement.

The the first tester they used to check it was defective. A day later they checked out with another tester and discovered it was ok.
