Well at least my tax dollars are not spent for some cops to bust folks for consuming bakery goods that have pot in them.

I particularly love how the cop tells how dangerous this is… yeah so dangerous that California , Colorado, Connecticut Delaware etc have it legalized and we see no problems.

You know what those states suffer ? Mellow people that don’t cause trouble.
It’s legal in NY… just these are unlicensed and unregulated

Seems like they should be focused on the huge violent crime issue instead of bakeries. Seriously.

I sometimes wonder who actually listens and pays attention to these reports. It was initiated by the Sherriffs Department and the Office of Cannabis Management NOT the NYPD though the sherrifs dept does use NYPD vehicles.
These stores were selling candies mimicking real products (note the Hersheys labels) which were infused with THC. I don't know about you but if this gets into the hands of children it could result in serious injury or death.
Yes recreational marijuana use is legal in NY but for adults over the age of 21 and only if purchased from a legal establishment with the proper licensing to do so.
If you think these enforcement officers could be better allocated to "more important crimes" then who will monitor and enforce these crimes?
I lived in NYC for the first fourty years of my life, I lived through crime, bad traffic, lackluster police enforcement and the inability of NY'rs to show compasion for their fellow citizens. I have gone back several times in the past 26 years and see a vast improvement but the NYC police departments (yes thats plural) are continuallu understaffed and underpaid and we should not belittle them because they are doing their job.
I lost three good friends on 9-11, all NYC police officers who gave their lives to protect ours.

I now step down from my soapbox and put on my nomex suit (pinstripe of course ;) )

I am absolutely a law enforcement officer supporter, and I have a thin blue line flag on my MME.

To me this isn't a LEO issue, it is a leadership issue. Especially political leadership. I won't say much more in a car forum, but the rise in violent crime isn't the LEOs fault. Not at all. They are just focusing on what they are told to focus on.
