Manual liftgate/hatch hits garage door, any suggestions?

Just got my California route 1 and looking for a solution to limit the opening height of the rear hatch. I really don't want to use a strap and was hoping someone has figured out a shorter strut to replace the original size. Any help in sizing is greatly appreciated.

read the manual the lift gate literally has a built in solution for this already, no straps required
