I just opened my garage door and hit the tailgate of my MME.
I'm not entirely sure why it opened.

The tailgate received a few scratches which I hope I can polish away.
I'll have to check tomorrow when we have daylight again.

Have any of you ever experienced this situation that the hatch opened without using the key fob?

There are several threads where members have complained of this issue is you want to search a bit.

Hasn't happened to my Mach-E (yet) but has happened several times to my Audi SUV. I've never caught the exact reason in the moment, but my working theory with the Audi is either something accidentally presses the liftgate button on the FOB in my pocket or one of the kids gets hold of the FOB.

today I was able to use polish to 'remove' the scratches to such an extent that if you don't know where they are, you can't see them directly. Of course I see it every time, but it's far better than if I hadn't polished it. Maybe visit my Smart Repair master in the spring, maybe he can eliminate the scratches further.

When I first picked up my mme, I opened the liftgate and it banged into my garage door at the top of its travel. No one told me I could limit the travel. But now that I have, it has not been a problem

Get a 3m scratch removal kit. Use it with a battery powered drill to keep rpms down around 1200 to 1500rpms. It works!
