Max Defrost / Heated Seat Software Bug

Has anyone else noticed that when you turn on Max Defrost and the driver heated seats are set to auto, it turns the heat on the seats all the way up? Luckily the windows usually defog before my rear end catches fire. @Ford Motor Company another bug for your software team!

Not a bug, operating as designed. When the seat is in AUTO mode, its temperature is linked to the HVAC setpoint. When MAX Defrost is used, it increases the setpoint to HI, which would also make the heated set go to HI as well. This is how the AUTO heated seat works. If your butt is too hot, lower the setpoint temp from HI or change the heated seat from AUTO to a fixed low setting.

Are you sure? Mine definitely did not turn on full blast before 4.1.2 when I would max defrost. It definitely seems tied to external temp, like other cars. I’ve left my temp at 74 and depending on ambient temp I will either have off, 1 bar or 2 bars. I even just raised it while driving, heated seats were not on, but on auto, and heated seats did not come on.

Yeah the AUTO heated seats might be disabled above a certain outdoor temp so maybe that's what you're noticing. Here it's cold enough they are always on at least 1 bar, and I always remember it heating up with MAX Defrost. I'm on the old software still.

Happy to find this thread. I thought i was going nuts.

I can't say i like this feature. Doesn't really make sense the 2 are linked. I find the "auto" heat seat setting does a good job as is.

i guess I'll have to get used to leaving it on heat setting 1 to avoid the un-indented butt cooking.
