just wanted to share how much i love the pilot sports... just put AS 4 (all season) on my GT PE to replace the stock pirelli pzeros.
being summer tires, the pirellis were hydroplaning in our recent california storms and skidding out on fast corners, even at 4/32nds tread left. it's also had this annoying squeeling on slow speed full lock u-turns on cold 40-50sF mornings. although dry grip was still pretty good, they rode harsh. i have a little lip on my drive way and hitting it every day was a sharp jolt i just attributed to the mach-e suspension (even with magneride). same with other road imperfections.
the michelin PS AS4s have been a revelation!
great grip in dry and wet. no more hydroplanning and i drove in the rain at highway speeds with confidence. great sharp turn in. but most amazing is the increase comfort and smoothness over bumpier roads. that driveway lip is now smoothed out, despite the new tires set at a higher PSI (42-43psi when it left the tire shop... will drop it back to 39 soon). didn't expect the increase comfort and it's impressive! quieter too. i don't know the hit on my EV range, but that's not a priority as i mostly daily drive and not road tripping.
the increase comfort is making me 2nd guess the need to change out the springs - i was planning to do install the rally springs to soften up the ride further.
anyways, i know there a lot of great tires, but i'm a michelin fan for sure. had the michelin PS4s on my previous job 1 premium mach-e that was amazing with all the attributes above. but given it's shorter life (approx 15k miles), i replaced them with the new then, hankook ions, which, while durable in terms of treadwear, had inferior turn-in/handling, and less grip and not that much quieter. i've had the conti DWS on an older car, and similar to the hankook, felt the sidewalls were too soft so didn't have the sharp turn in that i liked with the michelin PS. i guess if you don't like quick handling, the hankook and conti dws are fine. but if you like sharper handling, the michelins are the way to go.
i opted for the AS4 instead of PS4 this time for more for durability/longer tread life. but am happy most of the features i liked about the PS are present in the AS4.
