This is a good video with some good information on how (some) "traditional" car companies (like BMW in this case) are still just taking their current vehicles and "stuffing" EV tech into them. Which is good from a certain perspective (brand loyalty, ease of go-to-market, etc.) but bad in other ways (I mean, the car was designed for ICE not BEV)

He really points out why the electric Kona is good but the MME has the chance to be great. It really makes a difference when you build a BEV from the wheels up, rather than adapting an existing ICE. That said, the mainstreaming of BEVs in ICE bodies is probably going to go a long way toward their acceptance.

Another example of compromising EV design by using existing platform is the Volvo XC-40. Because of the way the batter pack is designed, it has a huge middle hump in the rear passenger area. It's also ridiculously heavy, which probably contributes to it's probable ridiculous range.
