Today I cleared out Jolly Jumper, my Space White 2021 SR RWD. Tuesday I will get my new 2025 SR RWD in Velocity Blue and turn my old car in.
Even though I'm looking forward to my new car, with all the improvements and such, I also feel sad I have to part with Jolly Jumper. Back in 2020 I took a leap of faith with the Mach-E, nobody in the Netherlands had seen one yet, apart from some pictures on the internet. Let alone driven one. So I ordered it off paper and hoped I made the right choice for my first EV.
Boy did that pan out great! The car was, and is, awesome. Such good looks and so much character. For months I just couldn't believe I owned such an impressive and cool car. I was 48 years old and my boyhood dream of owning a sports car had finally come true. I got carried away with it's performance and handling so much that within 45 minutes of owning it I was ticketed €475 for driving it to fast and got a 2 year warning on my driver's license. Mildly repeated that stunt a month later with a €375 ticket while showing the car off to some of my colleagues...
For the last four years, every time I saw Jolly Jumper I was filled with pride. Always looking forward to the next time I would drive it. Every errand, every road trip was a joy and an adventure.
And now I'm going to part with it and that makes me sad. The new MME is going to be great, I'm sure. But that feeling of awe I had back then with Jolly Jumper is probably not going to repeat itself. Call me romantic. Call me foolish for anthropomorphizing a car, but I'm going to miss it and I'm not ashamed to say so
