last month I got the itch for something different and traded my '21 GT for a '25 i4 M50. I'll keep it short and sweet with the main criteria I used to judge the two against each other.

Size:
Winner - Mach-e. The i4 is about the same length and width as the MME but it feels much shorter in height and the interior overall is much more cramped feeling. This doesn't bother me, as the driver, but the wife and kids definitely prefer the extra space in the MME. The i4 has no frunk at all, and while the cargo area length is slightly more in the BMW, the rear lack of height for the hatch isn't doing it any favors.

Tech:
Winner - i4. The tech capabilities are very similar if you get all the packages for the i4, but it's MUCH better implemented in the BMW, IMO. You get a whole lot more customization and information in the i4. It's as simple as getting a real time consumption meter that not only shows how much power is being consumed while driving, but also while idling. When stopped, it goes from mi/kwh consumption to kwh/h to show how much accessories are pulling.

Sound System:
Winner - i4...by a long shot. The 17 speaker HK system is....amazing. Just amazing.

Performance:
Winner - i4. On paper, the 0-60 is about the same.....but it doesn't feel it at all. The m50 just keeps pulling and feels like it's getting faster as you keep on the throttle...whereas the GT hits right off the line and then feels like a linear loss as you gain speed. It's anticlimactic in comparison. The only gripe I have with the i4 is torque steer is bad.

Efficiency:
Winner - i4. I'm consistently getting about 3.5-3.7 mi/kwh with the 19" wheels and despite only being an 82kwh usable capacity, manages about 270 miles to a charge. That's about the same as the GT but with 10% less battery capacity. That's also on, as far as I can tell, non EV Tires (Goodyear eagle sport all season)

Price:
Winner - MME GT. The BMW's sticker was 76. They are running 8500 in lease incentives + 10-13% off MSRP on average (I wasn't able to do better than 7%) which brings the price down to low 60s...but the numbers I'm getting for a '25 GT is over 10k less than that.

I still love the MME GT, and I'm working a deal right now to trade in my wife's '22 for a '25 GT....but if size and cost aren't your primary considerations, the i4 M50 is worth looking at.

Nice, congrats. Yeah the Mach-e is about 8" taller, putting the i4 more in sedan territory. Due to knee issues I had to give up sedan life and move to SUV life, the MME is still high enough to not be an issue but I think the i4 would be a little too low. Looks good though.

I couldn’t find an M50 locally when I got an i4 for my wife. But she is really happy with her 40. It’s a very nice ride.

That's why I wasn't able to get the usual 10-13% off MSRP. They had only 1 in my region and it was exactly what I was looking for package wise so I accepted that I was going to pay a hair more. No regrets...everything is about to get more expensive anyways.
