I’ve looked through the forums and read the charging section in the MME Owner’s Guide, but I think I’m just missing the answer to my question.

When charging, should the MME be on, off, or it doesn’t matter? I know it says not to use e-heat at least for the first few minutes when DCFC charging in the cold, but other than that nugget, I haven’t really been able to find anything on this. With an ICE, you pull up to the pump, turn off the car, fill, start-up, and off you go, but what’s the process with a BEV?

Thanks!

It doesn't matter. if the car is on, it will draw more power to charge, plus run everything.

As soon as you plug in a connector, the actual motors are cut from power. You will notice if you have the car running, plug in and then try to leave you have to push to start again.

When I first got my Mach-E, I didn't have a L2 charger installed at home yet, so I went to a free L2 charger in some parking lot. I posted up with my laptop and used the initial free data wifi hotspot to get work done for a couple of hours. No issue with the vehicle staying on.

I was worried if perhaps the 12V might not charge from the high volt battery while the high volt battery was charging, but that turned out to be unfounded - the 12V charges just fine even when the high volt is itself charging.
