If you have a muffled microphone, I figured out the issue. I have 2 Mach-E’s. 2021 Premium RWD Extended Range and a 2022 GTPE. They both had the exact same issue with people saying my audio sounded muffled on their side. After 9 months of Ford telling me the part is back ordered I did some digging and found something that was crazy to me. During production, Ford decided to stick a sticker over the microphone. At first I thought that there was no way this was the issue but after removing them, ITS FIXED. You have to pull the microphone from the ceiling, remove the ceiling mounting bracket (silver part), then separate the microphone from the bezel. After some nifty tweezer work you can wiggle their mistake out and your done! Be careful, it’s all plastic so it take very little force on anything. The sticker you see in the first picture is the part number for the microphone. It’s not the problem. Once you separate the 2 black (or whatever color your microphone housing maybe) then you will see the other small sticker behind the X plastic brace.

So far, nobody has complained about my car's mic. It does make me wonder though... I might have to get my teeth into the mic and see if it has that sticker. ?‍♂?

If you’re holding your flashlight, just write, you can see the sticker through the screen from inside the car. At least I could on mine.

As someone who wasted time on this, don't bother. The sticker doesn't actually cover any mic holes (they are on either side of the sticker) and there is no impact on sound quality after removing the sticker. The microphone is designed to have the sticker placed where it is without impacting the sound in any way.

I thought it looked that way in the OP's picture. Thanks for the confirmation.

Hate it didn’t help with yours. Made a ton of difference on mine.

It is possible the label was not the cause of your problem. Maybe the act of removing the microphone and reinstalling it did something else. I can see from your pictures that the microphone holes were not covered by the label, so I bet the improvement is coincidental with the label being removed.
