Since the first day my MME has some issues. Emergency call system failure message on the ITC, no response to Voice interaction commands, microphone not working answering phone calls.
The car is at the dealer for the third time. The first time they replaced the microphone and the cable to the Emergency call button with no success. Then they replaced the related module under the trunk panel but the module software update always ends with an update failure. I think they don't even know what's the cause and my car is still there. Anybody had a similar issue or knows how to solve it?

The issue has been finally solved. The cause was the same that causes OTA 1.7.1 stuck and can be solved following the procedure of the TSB 22-2117. It has been applied at the dealer but remotely by a professional technician at Ford hedquarters somewhere. The strange thing is that previously I got regularly the OTA 1.7.1 and the following ones to 2.3.0.

What is an “emergency call button”?

That’s the thing is nurses tie to the side of the bed before we walk away. So you can reach us if you need to.

Sadly, I’m painfully aware of that system. And one or two others.

We don‘t get it here, but it’s in European MMEs.
Do they have the system where it dials “9-1-1” (yes, I know the number is different elsewhere) if the car gets into an accident?

I don't know, but I would guess they do.
Sometimes, there are odd European regulations or limitations that would prevent some things that otherwise would make sense?

In the US there is the emergency assit feature in Sync that detects a collision and will call 911 (if you don't stop it) and if compatible will send them information. This system requires you to opt-in and uses your phone.

In the EU they have eCall that in the event of a collision will automatically call 112 and send them location and vehicle data like if airbags deployed and how many occupants there were so they can dispatch accordingly. This system can not be turned off (I believe) and uses the cars modem

That's right, It is the emergency assit feature in Sync that detects a collision and automatically calls 112 and cannot be turned off, but it does not require a connected phone, it is called by Sync. But the emergency call can also be made manually using the button on the overhead console.
